Purpose

The purpose of this study is to provide students with a solid understanding of nuclear physics, focusing on the structure, stability, and reactions of atomic nuclei, and the physical principles underlying nuclear energy production. Students will apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems, including determining nuclear half-lives, and explore applications in other branches of physics and technology. The study emphasizes problem-solving, self-organization, effective communication, and the use of science and technology. By integrating lectures, exercises, and independent learning, students develop analytical reasoning and critical thinking, enabling them to understand, analyze, and communicate complex nuclear physics concepts effectively.

Admission Requirements

Applicants require at least a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). A Science, Engineering, or technical degree at NQF Level 7, including one year of Physics and two years of Mathematics.

Selection Process

Selection is based on academic merit.
