Purpose

The purpose of this module is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to apply mathematical concepts and methods to understand fundamental physics, particularly in the context of nuclear energy. Students will develop problem-solving abilities within a mathematical framework and apply these techniques to other branches of physics and technology. The module emphasizes critical cross-field competencies, including effective problem-solving, self-organization, time management, communication of complex mathematical principles, and recognition of appropriate problem-solving contexts. By integrating theory, exercises, and independent learning, students build analytical reasoning and practical skills essential for scientific and technological applications.

Admission Requirements

Applicants require at least a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). A Science, Engineering, or technical degree at NQF Level 7, including one year of Physics and two years of Mathematics.
