Duration of Study:听6 Months
Purpose
This programme provides students with a comprehensive understanding of nuclear physics, covering both non-relativistic and relativistic kinematics. Key topics include classical and quantum scattering (Thomson and Compton), nuclear structure models such as the deuteron, Fermi gas, and shell model, and nuclear reactions including neutron capture, transmutation, fission, and fusion. Students will explore resonance phenomena, fast neutrons, and breeding reactions, including 虏鲁鲁U and 虏鲁鈦筆u cycles. Emphasis is placed on applying theoretical principles to solve problems, analyze nuclear processes, and understand applications in energy production and technology, while developing critical problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Admission Requirements
Applicants require at least a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). A Science, Engineering, or technical degree at NQF Level 7, including one year of Physics and two years of Mathematics.
Selection Process
Selection is based on academic merit.
