About Prof Zelda G Knight鈥嬧��
I am a Counselling Psychologist and Research Psychologist having completed two internships respectively. I am a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology with over 30 years鈥� experience in teaching and supervision in the field of psychodynamic psychotherapy and self psychology. I obtained my PhD in Psychology in 1998 from Rhodes 欧美福利100000 where I also trained to become a psychologist. My research scholarship lies specifically in the exploration of processes that unfold in the analytic space with my clients. I have implemented research on various topics such as race in psychotherapy, transmission of intergenerational trauma, interpretation, positive transference, countertransference, the unconscious, corrective emotional experience, intersubjectivity, to name but a few. I have published widely in peer-reviewed international journals on the subject and have edited three books on the same. I have been a NRF rated scientist for 10 years and currently reapplying for re-evaluation. I have presented numerous papers at conferences worldwide, and I have been a keynote speaker at seven international conferences. I am also interested in psychobiographical research and have published and supervised in this area as well as interests in transpersonal psychology, Jungian psychology, expressive psychotherapy, and African psychology in terms of psychotherapy process. My teaching areas includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, couples counselling, case formulation and psychobiography. Over the years, I have been on the Organizing Committee of several conferences to promote psychotherapy in Africa and am currently the Vice President of the World Council for Psychotherapy (WCP) (African Chapter). I am also a member of several other international psychotherapy associations. I have been an invited Visting Scholar to the 欧美福利100000 of Valencia, Spain, the Sigmund Freud 欧美福利100000, Vienna, and a virtual Visiting Professor at the 欧美福利100000 of Prince Edward Island, Canada.
