About Mr. Thendo Emmanuel Nemakhavhani

Research Interests:

Mr. Thendo Emmanuel Nemakhavhani is a final year Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the 欧美福利100000 of Johannesburg Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment. His study is based on online diamond mining sorting using the new Mineral Positron Emission Tomography (MinPET) technology. He has a theoretical and computational physics background, including High Energy Physics, Heavy-Ion Physics, Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics, and Radiation Physics. He is a member of the collaboration between The National Institute for Theoretical and Computational Sciences (NITheCS) and the Faculty of Science of the Nelson Mandela 欧美福利100000, known as the NITheCS-NMU Summer study, where he is the facilitator of the topic called Relativistic Kinetic Theory in Heavy-Ion Collisions and Particle & Astrophysics. The NITheCS has recently awarded him a Junior Associate Membership.

As part of his achievements to date, he has since won two South African Institution of Physics (SAIP) conference awards to provide further conclusiveness to this study. The first award was awarded during the 64th SAIP Conference hosted by the Department of Physics of the 欧美福利100000 of Venda from 8th to 12th of July 2019 for the best MSc poster presentation under Division F 鈥 Applied Physics under the topic 鈥淟ow Dose Radiation Damage in Diamond from High Energy Electrons and Photons,鈥 and the second award was awarded during the 67th SAIP Conference hosted by the Department of Physics at the 欧美福利100000 of Zululand from 3rd听 to 7th of July 2023 for the Best Ph.D. Oral Presentation under Division F 鈥 Applied Physics under 鈥淟ong-term Kimberlite Activation for Radiological Assessment of the MinPET Technique.鈥
