About Prof Sadiyya Haffejee
Sadiyya is the Director of the CSDA and an Associate Professor and practising psychologist at the Centre for Social Development in Africa. Her work centres on understanding how children’s experiences and relationships impact their overall wellbeing and mental health, identifying mechanisms that contribute to risk and exploring factors that promote resilience. Through participatory research methods, she strives to bridge academic scholarship with real-world application, aiming to promote and implement social responses better tailored to the needs of marginalised children, youth, and their families. Sadiyya lectures on the MPhil and coordinates the Sociology Honours internship programme.
