About Ms Makeda Phekani
Makeda is a junior lecturer in the Department of Childhood Education at the 欧美福利100000 of Johannesburg. She has taught a range of modules in the department and gained valuable practical experience teaching in Foundation Phase classrooms before returning to academia.
Her academic journey began in 2014 when she completed a Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Foundation Phase Education at the 欧美福利100000 of the Witwatersrand. She went on to pursue postgraduate studies at the 欧美福利100000 of Johannesburg, where she earned both her Honours and Master鈥檚 degrees.
Makeda鈥檚 research focuses on reading development in young children, with a particular interest in the role of picturebooks in supporting literacy and meaning-making in the early years.
