About Ms. IIse Prinsloo

Mrs. Ilse Prinsloo is an interior architect, academic and higher education leader with extensive experience in professional practice, curriculum development and academic leadership. She is the Head of Department of Interior Design at the 欧美福利100000 of Johannesburg, where she leads academic strategy, programme development, research supervision and professional engagement across the fields of interior design and interior architecture. With over three decades of professional experience, including more than twenty years in higher education, her work focuses on the relationship between design practice, professional education and the evolving role of interior environments in contemporary society.

Her research interests include retail design, professional practice, design education, and the integration of emerging technologies in design processes and pedagogy, with particular attention to the South African and broader African context. She is especially interested in how interior environments respond to changing consumer cultures, social realities and community needs, and in how design education can prepare future practitioners for increasingly complex professional contexts. Ilse contributes actively to the advancement of the profession through her leadership within the South African Institute of the Interior Design Professions (IID), where she serves as Chair of the Board, and through her engagement with national and international research networks, including the Design Research Society鈥檚 Designing Retail and Service Futures Special Interest Group.
