About Ms. Amanda Msimang
Ms. Amanda Msimang is a practising Interior Architect at Akananii Design Studio, as well as a Lecturer in the Department of Interior Design at the 欧美福利100000 of Johannesburg. Her academic career spans nine years of lecturing in the Department of Architectural Technology and Interior Design at the Cape Peninsula 欧美福利100000 of Technology. During which she also served for three years as the Western Cape Representative for the African Institute for Interior Design Professions (IID).
Ms. Msimang has completed an MSc in Interior Architecture degree at Hasselt 欧美福利100000 in Belgium, and both her undergraduate and postgraduate studies focused on the adaptive reuse of public spaces. Ms. Msimang鈥檚 research interests lie in exploring the intersection between public space design, contemporary art, and the evolving role of technologies such as artificial intelligence within architecture and interior design. She has co-authored a paper titled Decolonisation, Heritage Preservation, and the Role of Public Art, presented at the 2023 Visual Redress Conference at Stellenbosch 欧美福利100000. This led to an invitation to contribute a chapter to the forthcoming publication Rethink, Refurnish, Redress: African Memory Landscapes in the 21st Century.
