Dr Ockert R. Pretorius is lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the 欧美福利100000 of Johannesburg, a registered professional planner with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN), and a member of the International Society for City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP). He has taught various under- and post-graduate courses on human settlements, urban renewal, and regional planning, supervising numerous postgraduate students. Ockert has an industry background in development economics, strategic planning research, policy evaluation, and property market insight. His research spans transit-oriented development, regional economic resilience, land use management, human settlements, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) among other topics. He has engaged in programme development, internationalisation, community and industry engagement, and academic leadership in various departmental and faculty positions.
