About Mary Hope Schwoebel
Dr. Schwoebel is Associate Professor in the Department of Conflict Resolution at Nova Southeastern 欧美福利100000 and is a Senior Research Associate for the Qatar-South Africa Centre for Peace and Intercultural Understanding. A seasoned scholar, a policy-advisor, a practitioner, and activist, she has worked across continents on critical peace, humanitarian, development, governance and environmental issues and their nexuses – for some four decades. Her work has paid sustained attention to the role of women in peacebuilding, statebuilding, disaster management, hybrid governance, and transforming violent extremism. Previously Prof. Schwoebel was Senior Program Officer at the US Institute of Peace where she designed and managed dialogues and training in Africa, South America, South and Central Asia, the Middle East, the Pacific and the Caribbean. She has worked for and consulted for USAID, State Department, UNICEF, UNDP, the InterAmerican Development Bank, and NGOs. Having lived and worked for six years in the Horn of Africa and five years in South America, Dr. Schwoebel brings extensive field experience to her research and practice. She has published widely鈥攊ncluding book chapters, articles, editorials, encyclopedia entries, and served as a special issue editor with the Journal of Peacebuilding and Development – where she served as an Advisory Board member for two decades.
