About Marlene de Beer

A first-generation slow scholar with a Master鈥檚 in Soc. Sc. Community Development and over 30 years of research and teaching experience in South Africa, Malaysia & Ireland.

Registered Social Worker to Practice (#10-14594) with the South African Council for Social Service Professions.
Research focus: Qualitative, Intersectional, trans / inter / multi-disciplinary i.e.:听 IR4.0 Society 5.0, Older Persons, (Invisible) Disabilities & Non-Normative Sexualities.
Teaching & Learning Philosophies: Pedagogy of Discomfort & Disruption.
Theoretical orientations: Queer-Crip-Eco-Fem.
Supervised over 10 Masters鈥� students to graduation since at UJ 2013.
Professional member: International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (IACFS/ME).
Community Engagement: CLIT+ Artistic Activism ; 听K9-4-GBV Protection ; Hemp socio-economic development.
