About Leanetse Matutoane

Mr Leanetse Paul Matutoane was born in Evaton, on the southern border of the Gauteng province of South Africa. He holds a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) from Vaal
欧美福利100000 of Technology and an MBA degree from Rhodes 欧美福利100000. He has been active in the technical, automotive and engineering consulting operations management industries for the major part of his career. In 2007, he received the General Motors鈥 Chairman鈥檚 Award for his role in the start-up of operations for the HUMMER H3 production vehicle of General Motors.
Leanetse started his career as an Electrical Technician with the then Iscor (Mittal Steel), progressing through the ranks to Master Technician. Thereafter he moved into production management, the capacity which he fulfilled within the automotive and FMCG sectors, including the responsibility for the production of a wind turbine manufacturing facility in one of these assignments. His experience includes the introduction of a Lean manufacturing tool within 2 South
African plant of an automotive manufacturer.
Leanetse joined the SAIEE in the role of Operations Manager of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) in June 2018 and was appointed Acting CEO in January 2021. In April 2022 he was officially appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the SAIEE. He is
a Senior Member of the SAIEE. In his current role, he oversees the SAIEE鈥檚 regional centres, located in Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Southern Cape, Free State, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Mpumalanga, Vaal, Central Gauteng. The regional centres are the residents for the intellectual capital of the institute鈥檚 6000 strong membership. He also oversees the SAIEE鈥檚
Training Academy and Continuous Professional Development programs in support of professional registration. He is charged with the implementation of the SAIEE鈥檚 strategic intent, inclusive of the
relationship with national and international sister institutes.
