About Dr Farhahna Allie

Dr. Allie has a strong research focus on host-pathogen interactions in plant-virus pathosystems. Her research focuses on the study of plant-virus interactions, specifically in the areas of epigenetics and gene expression. We aim to elucidate the underlying virus-host interactions to understand how these determine pathology and transmission. The current research focus is on geminivirus infection in tomato crops, specifically exploring how the Tomato curly stunt virus (ToCSV) hijacks and reprograms the host’s cellular machinery. The Molecular-Plant Virology group is eager to continue exploring new and innovative strategies for sustainable plant virus control and is dedicated to advancing our understanding of the complex interactions between plants and viruses.
