About Prof Bulelwa Maphela
Prof Bulelwa Maphela is an Associate Professor at the School of Economics, hold positions on the Research Ethics Board for the College of Business and Economics. She a member of the SA Defense Force, serving in the pool of specialists, the Ehlanzeni Human remains forum and听 plays an adjudication and training role of SME in all the nine provinces of South Africa. As a dedicated scholar and ethics chair for the School of Economics, she is passionate about addressing community issues and promoting sustainable local economic Development.
Her research focuses on exploring innovative solutions to economic challenges and ensuring that development initiatives are equitable, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable. Amongst many goals, she endeavors to collaborate with stakeholders to address community issues and promote positive social change.
Her focus is on Public Policy, Local Economic Development and Governance and more specifically, my current research focuses on the challenges of service provision in the townships. When it comes to teaching, her philosophy is that of servant-leader “teachership”. This philosophy of servant-teacher-leader is rooted deeply in my spirituality. As a servant-leader she aspires to 听accomplish the mission of her institution in consonance with a sustainable vision and in the process helps those that she leads, be its students or mentees, understand their roles and responsibilities while doing their job in harmony with an explicit or implicit vision.
