About Amalia Beagle

Amalia Beagle听is a seasoned artist and educator with extensive experience across both formal education and the NGO sector. With clay as her primary medium, her artistic and teaching practice is grounded in the transformative power of creativity.

Over the years, Amalia has contributed to a wide range of educational settings, including formal education and community-based initiatives. Her work has spanned arts facilitation in advocacy and youth development programmes, where she has consistently championed the integration of creative expression into broader social and educational outcomes.

Amalia holds a Master鈥檚 degree in Fine Art, with a specialisation in arts-based pedagogical practices. Her academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of mental health and education, particularly in the role that the arts play in fostering emotional resilience and well-being. She has taught for several years in the university Access programme, focusing on soft skills development.

Amalia is deeply committed to the value of creativity in holistic human development. She currently coordinates the Art Therapy programme at UJ and lectures in the BA Honours Art Therapy, where she continues to explore and promote the role of the arts in education, health, and community engagement.
