2025, October 6 From the UN’s Pact for The Future to Everyday Actions for Peace Symposium

CPIU hosted a symposium that explored what Action for Peace means聽in an era of geopolitical rivalry, how South Africa and Qatar are advancing peace and security as middle powers and finally, how universities can support peace and security through research, teaching, publishing and activism.

2025, August 18-21 Eco-Social Contracts for Sustainable and Just Futures: Mobilising Collective Power with the 21st Century Polycrisis, Johannesburg

Prof McCandless participated in a pre-book launch panel presenting her chapter on 鈥淭he Climate COP: Processes and Pathways for Eco- and Peace-Promoting Social Contracts鈥 at the TC/ESG 25 Conference, Navigating Sustainability, Transformations towards Justice and Equity conference, and also at the Academic Council of the United Nations (ACUNS) in Nairobi (July 23-25).

2025, July 21-23 Second annual meeting of the African Research Network on Regional and Global Governance Innovation (ANUMDI), Nairobi.

CPIU co-hosted this conference with the Savannah Centre Diplomacy, Democracy and Development, the Stimson Centre and other African organisations bringing together scholars and practitioners to reflect on innovative regional and global governance – including peace and security –聽 innovation proposals for Africa.

CPIU, on behalf of the 欧美福利100000 of Johannesburg, co-hosted this conference with Hamad Bin Khalifa 欧美福利100000 and other partner organisations, including the,, and the Glasgow. The conference sought to tackle both immediate and long-term strategies for rebuilding Gaza鈥檚 higher education sector, examining critical challenges, priorities, and opportunities for recovery, while fostering collaboration between Gaza鈥檚 higher education leaders and international experts, scholars, and institutions.
