Marikana Massacre: Respect and Retrospect

10th Anniversary Events at UJ

A decade ago, police slaughtered 34 striking mineworkers. No police have been charged, no compensation has been paid and Cyril Ramaphosa, implicated in the massacre, has refused to apologise. We detail and reflect on events, discuss their impact, consider what’s changed for ordinary people, contextualise using the Rand Revolt centenary, and picket for ‘Justice for Marikana!鈥
