PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT

ACE seeks to contribute to UJ鈥檚 public engagement on core issues that face the country. ACE is committed to 10 Op-eds for the 2025 academic calendar. As the Director of the centre, Prof Khambule has been invited to speak at conferences, dialogues and various other platforms. Some of the highlights include:

  1. National Service Delivery Indaba, 25-26 February 2025

Prof. Khambule was invited by the National Planning Commission to deliver a talk on Service Delivery Challenges in South Africa at the National Service Delivery Indaba held in Pretoria. He presented on service delivery challenges and how these challenges impact economic development in South Africa.

 

  1. ABSA Youth Entrepreneurship Dialogue, 19 February 2025

Prof. Khambule was invited by ABSA and the Allan Grey Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship (AGCAE) to lead the Policy Stream in its effort to focus on building more youth entrepreneurs. Prof Khambule reflected on youth issues and the role ACE plays in providing evidence on youth programmes in South Africa.

  1. Red-Tape Reduction: KZN Department of Economic Development and Environmental Affairs, 25 April 2025

Prof Khambule was invited by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) and the 欧美福利100000 of KwaZulu-Natal to deliver a talk on red-tape reduction in South Africa, with a particular focus on the role of the government in red-tape reduction.

 

  1. Black Management Forum鈥檚 Ease of Doing Business, 25 June 2025

Prof Khambuel was invited by the Black Management Forum to speak alongside the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Honourable Njabulo Nzuza, on the ease of doing business in South Africa. Prof Khambule spoke on key barriers facing the country鈥檚 economy, and possible solutions to the current development impasse.
