- 400km (245miles) drive to the world famous Kruger National Park and the Big 5 on a double lane highway!
- Incredibly good bang for buck for everything!
Getting around
- Joburg is a vast city with a public transport system that isn’t easy to work out for the non-adept.
- The best way to get around is by听Uber (which is cheap) and the听骋补耻迟谤补颈苍 for certain destinations.
- To travel out of town,听you can听rent a car 鈥 from well-known international companies (AVIS and Hertz).
- Walking听should be done with care听during the day听and听is听not an option at night.
- While there are a number of neighbourhoods that are fairly safe (see suggestions below), avoid carrying around expensive things (e.g. laptops, cameras) when walking. Keep them out of sight when driving.
Get a local SIM card
The easiest option is to get one at the airport, there are a number of providers (MTN, Cell-C, Vodacom) who have shops near the arrival鈥檚 hall in the airport. In order to register the SIM card you will need to show your passport. (In town it gets far more complicated.) An eSim now looks like the best option.
